Consequently, the US launched a series of air strikes against them and when other countries started joining the war, the Taliban were effectively removed from power. But after being reorganized by their leader, Mullah Omar, they came back stronger than ever. Since then, the US and its allies have been struggling to stop the government from collapsing and ending the deadly attacks by the Taliban. It is the longest war in US history and hundreds of thousands of people have been killed included but not limited to 2,400 US military personnel, 31,000 civilians and 62,000 Afghan national security forces. In 2018, 10,000 civilians were killed in Afghanistan and more than a third were children.
